About ABBA

In ABBA, new adaptive strategies are to be jointly developed in order to adapt the operation of existing wind turbines to current and future challenges. On the one hand, the focus is on integrating the current energy price, a lidar-based wind forecast and load monitoring in operational management. On the other hand, data-based control is to be used to extend the service life, increase the energy yield, reduce noise emissions and support the electrical grid. The operating strategies developed will then be tested on a 2 MW and two 6 MW research plants.

sowento's role in the project

sowento develop and test methods and algorithms for lidar-based lifetime extension. The lidar control platform for the MM92 is designed by sowento and made available to the project partners. It is used to test all methods and strategies of the project. In addition, sowento develop modern lidar data processing methods that are required for the adaptive control strategies. Another focus is lidar-based load verification. Methods are developed for this and validated with the measurements on the MM92.
